Frequently Asked Questions
How many months are needed for CA Foundation?
3-4 months of dedicated preparation is ideal. 12th pass students should start immediately after results. College students should begin 4-5 months early to balance both. Consistency of 6-8 hours daily is more important than total months.
Is CA Foundation difficult?
Foundation is not difficult if prepared well. Pass rate is ~18%, but many students don't prepare seriously. Commerce students find it easier as 60% syllabus overlaps with 12th. Non-commerce students need extra effort in Accounts and Maths.
Which paper is toughest?
Paper 3 (Quantitative Aptitude) is considered toughest due to Maths and Statistics. Paper 4 (Economics) is challenging for non-commerce students. Accounting and Law are relatively scoring if you practice regularly.
Can I clear while doing graduation?
Yes! Many students clear Foundation while in college. Study 4-5 hours on weekdays, 6-8 hours on weekends. Start 4-5 months before exams. B.Com students have advantage as subjects overlap. Attend college but prioritize CA during exam months.
Is coaching necessary?
Not mandatory. ICAI Study Material is sufficient for self-study. Coaching helps if you need structure or struggle with Maths/Accounts. Free YouTube lectures (CA Rachna Agarwal, CA Shivangi Agrawal) are excellent alternatives. ICAI's own classes are affordable.
